Why is a Good SEO Company So Expensive?
First, to understand this question, you must realize what SEO is and the things involved to do it right. The ideal situation is to have your site optimized as it's build, but you already have a site and it's getting nowhere fast.
OK, so we know our site needs work. We do a search and make some inquiries, getting quotes in the thousands of dollars. Whew! You think, "Maybe I can do it myself," but you don't know where to begin. Good SEO is a delicate balancing act. Different search engines have their own criteria so you have to satisfy all of them without offending any.
There is some very helpful software available, but most are not accepted by, say...Google...for automatic submission. They all claim they are and carry a stiff price. Then you have to understand them and know how to use the varying features. Also, if you get two different programs thinking that you'll be twice as prepared, that will confuse you even more because each one will give you different advice. GRRRR!
A good SEO will probably need to change the makeup of your first page, at least, without destroying the look and feel of it. They will have to research keywords and phrases and figure out how to get them onto your page as many times as possible, without sounding like a broken record.
That is just the first step. There is that all-important
So, it doesn't sound so bad? We're talking about hours and hours of tedious work. We have to be creative. We have to analyze the competition and try to do better than them. However, we must know WHICH category to shoot for and why.
Here is an example: Out site is about weight loss. Simple enough you say, our keywords are weight loss. WRONG! Here is why: Type "weight loss" into Google and what do you see? Look over towards the right and see how many results there are. Do you want to compete with that? I didn't think so.
So, what are your options? That's what good SEO is all about. I could type here forever about alt_image tags, meta description, keyword density and prominence but I think you're getting my point. I formed my little one-woman company to do SEO for people that absolutely can't afford the going rates of a big firm.
After all, your site is just a pretty holding place for pictures and information if no one can find it.
